World Speed drivers contested the Formula Pro USA F3 and F4 rounds during a well-attended Racing America Trans-Am weekend at Sonoma Raceway from April 23-26, 2026. The team recorded race wins, pole positions, and podium finishes across the F3, F4, and WRS classes, alongside a few procedural challenges.
Saturday Round 3: Formula Pro USA
In the Formula 3 class, Dan Decker started from pole position and secured the race win. The 2025 F3 champion, Larry Schnur, finished behind him in second place.
The Formula 4 race featured a close finish. Erik Doan set the fastest lap of the race and ran side-by-side with Lucas Hand throughout the closing laps. The two drivers maintained a clean battle, with Doan missing the win by a margin of 0.011 seconds.
In the WRS F4 championship, Yana Kapoor secured the pole position. After losing the lead during a race-long battle with Ana Palestro, Kapoor was unable to regain the position and finished second on the WRS podium.
A non-points Formula Libre race was held late Saturday afternoon as an optional event. Erik Doan opted out to conserve his tires for Sunday. Dan Decker secured another win in the F3 class, while Austin Tiller took the victory in F4.
Sunday Round 4: Formula Pro USA
Sunday’s main event started cleanly but concluded under yellow flag conditions. Dan Decker completed a weekend sweep of the F3 class with another win, while Larry Schnur took second.
The Formula 4 results required a post-race review to finalize. On the track, Erik Doan and Lucas Hand resumed their battle for the lead, with Doan running in first place when the yellow flags were displayed. Following the race, Hand's team filed a protest, stating Doan had executed a pass under the yellow flag. The Race Director reviewed the video footage and determined that both Doan and Hand had passed a slower car while the yellow flags were active. Consequently, both drivers received a five-position penalty.
Due to the penalties, World Speed rookie Scott Pyle, who had already earned a podium finish earlier this season, secured his first F4 win of 2026. Teammate Austin Tiller moved up the order to secure third place.
Next Event
The World Speed F3 and F4 teams have a short turnaround before their next race. The drivers will return to the grid for the Thunderhill Open with Formula Awesome, scheduled for May 15-17 in Willows, California.
