For the second year in a row, World Speed Motorsports has awarded a test to drivers at the SKUSA SuperNationals in Las Vegas, NV. This time in the Pro Fran-Am 1600 car, to two drivers (Alan Sciuto and Brad Coleman), with Team MMI Karting support and to drivers in the 80 Junior race. The awards were given to the winner of the 80 Junior race and a “pick at large” in the same race. The 80 Junior race was chosen because of the recent announcement of the Fran-Am Championship that 14-year-old drivers will be allowed to compete in the Pro 1600 Championship.
“This is the third year I have attended the SuperNats in Las Vegas and it just keeps getting better,” stated Telo Stewart manager of World Speed Motorsports, “the talent has always been there, but with the change of venue to the Rio, the show is catching up and it is a lot of fun to give these drivers some of their first racecar experiences.”
“The idea behind my helping young karters move up the ladder and into cars is that through the experience they will learn a lot about life in general,” said Bill Mayer owner of MMI, “I call it Building Kids Through Motorsports and things like this test are experiences that will, hopefully, give these kids something to shoot for and an idea what it takes to succeed.”
Both of the young drivers and their parents were excited about the prospect of their sons getting to drive a modern race car. “This is a great opportunity for Alan,” said Richard Sciuto Alan’s father. “Brad is more excited about driving the big machines than anything he has ever done in his young life,” commented Brandon Coleman Brad’s father.
